Outlook 2010 Stuck in Safe Mode

Outlook 2010 would start in safe mode every time.

This was caused by Microsoft patch KB3114409 released in December 2015.

Removal of the patch resolves the problem.

Office 2007 using English (US) on 2008 R2 Terminal Server rather than language set

Office 2007 was using English (US) even when set to English (NZ) in office language and regional settings. This would happen from Windows XP, but not Windows 7.
To fix, Disable Auto Detect Keyboard Layout by adding the following registry entry on the terminal server:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
“IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout”=dword:00000001

Outlook 2010 Autocomplete not working

Outlook autocomplete was not working on a Outlook 2010 installation that used POP email.

In this case it was resolved by wiping the existing autotcomplete cache.

This was done by opening Outlook > select file > select options > select mail > under send messages > click the “Empty Auto-complete List” button > untick “use auto-complete list to suggest names ….” > click ok.

Restart outlook and then turn back on “use auto-complete list to suggest names ….” > click ok.  Restart outlook and test.  A new autotcomplete list should have been created and will start storing addresses used from now on.

Office 2010 Detect and Repair

In Office 2010 the Detect and Repair option has been removed from within the office products.

To run a repair > open control panel > programs and features (add/remove programs in XP) > find MS Office 2010 > select change button > select repair.

Outlook 2010 import or export

In Outlook 2010 the location for importing and exporting is no longer easy to find.

You now need to click on file > open > import >

This will open the Import and Export Wizard.

From there you can select to export to a file or import from the normal locations
